NOTE: As you do not have a CSS upgrade you can skip using the theme customizer. All of the very same functions can be accessed from your dashboard.
Appearance > Header
Appearance > Background
Appearance > Theme Options (applicable only to some themes)
Settings > Reading (set a static front page)
Site Title and Tagline > Settings > GeneralIf you do you purchase an annually renewable custom design upgrade
note these entries:

http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/editing-css/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#custom-fonts
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#custom-colorsWhen using the theme customizer please be sure you are using a browser and version of it found here http://browsehappy.com and you have enabled third party cookies. http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/

P.S. No changes you try out aside from those such as Custom Background, Custom Header and Theme Options which are stated on the theme description pages for each theme will be visible to visitors unless you purchase an annually renewable custom design upgrade.
-
Does anybody know? Color options are there but only certain ones are save after being edited
-
Your theme has features including Custom Background and Custom Header. You do not need to use the theme customizer for those at all and you do not need to purchase a custom design upgrade.
Appearance > Header
Note: Header Text
Show header text with your image.
Text ColorAppearance > Background
Upload an image or select a color
Background Color, headings, links, accent #1, accent #2 arnt editable unless i have the css upgrade
Correct.

Thanks for the info, thats incredibly money grabbing of wp. To unlock the use of simple hex color values you have to pay a fee – ridiculous

I hear you loud and clear. I accept the fact the WordPress.com requires an income. However, it’s my opinion that we ought to be able to customize our blogs just like Blogger bloggers do – free of charge. Instead we are expected to cough up $30 and wait in long lineups to get CSS editing help from Volunteers! Then we must pay $30. annually to have our CSS stylesheets display.
This does not impress me:
NEW! Custom Colors can now be previewed by anyone with our free themes. Just click the Try Now button while customizing.

Im glad you agree, In no way am i trolling, im just expressing, from a technical stand point – i wanted to start a blog to discuss technical development, coding etc on an easy platform without spending time coding for the website itself, as my efforts are spent coding elsewhere, but to be told you cant even customize the most basic elements without paying a fee is, to be honest, awful. When that $30 could be put towards a self hosted, that you can customize as much as you like. I moved over from blogger as i was told WP.com offers a better services, evidently not.

You aren’t trolling nor am I. We are both expressing our opinions in a civilized manner in this is a free speech environment.
I have two blogs here, both have domain mapping upgrades and No-Ads upgrades. They are currently costing me $10 less each blog per year than hiring a web host would cost me.
You are correct. One can hire web host and set up a WordPress.org install and customize a theme free of charge. I recommend reading this comparison > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

I see, thanks for the info. While i understand wp.com need to make money somehow, im not ok with the cost to enable, what are still, only very basic features which should be avaliable to anyone for free, its hardly in depth. Its a shame there are no blog services that offer even basic customization for free(other than blogger), for people who just want something quick. hmm, looks like its back to boring blogger, bye interesting themes.

We are like minded but I’m not prepared to reactivate my Blogger blog. Best wishes to you.
