Theme Direction
-
Hi,
We created a WordPress.com (we don’t have the option of moving to a .org) site last year to feature our Arts Month events; it was a great start but this year we are hoping to add some functionality. While I know this is not a WordPress page we are hoping to add the navigation type aspect from this site: http://sfarts.org/
We want to be able to list the different art categories and then have the posts arranged by date, and have them move as the month progresses.
Is there a theme or widget that has this capacity?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there! There isn’t a direct equivalent of that functionality here, but I can recommend a few options that you could check out and see if they’ll work for you.
You could publish your information as posts and add categories to them, then use Category Pages to sort your posts by certain categories and link to them to display each category on its own.
For example, if you use blog posts to publish information on your classes, and add a “classes” category to each of the posts, then you could link to this page (in your menu or elsewhere), which would display all posts under the “classes” category: hillsboroartsmonth.org/category/classes
This will mean the newest post will display at the top and as you scroll down the posts will be older, just as in the regular blog setup.
Information on setting up Category Pages can be found here if you’d like to take a look: https://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/
For an option with events that will rotate out of view once the date has passed, there is the Upcoming Events option to add to a post, page, or widget: https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/upcoming-events/
You would add events to a calendar and then use the feed from the calendar to work with WordPress.com to display upcoming events. Once an event has passed, it would no longer be displayed in the list.
Let me know if you have any questions! :)
