Theme editor disappeared and I want it back
-
What happened to the Theme Appearance Editor option? I understand I can add custom CSS. That’s not what I’m asking. I’m asking why I was able to open my theme stylesheets a couple of days ago, then the option was taken away. I’d also like to know what I need to do to get the option back.

I see that your site is using WordPressdotcom nameservers. I’ve tagged this for Staff attention, but you also are eligible for direct support by live chat and email when you post at https://wordpress.com/help/contact

Hi there,
Your site’s theme stylesheet editor can be found at:
https://swingindhorserescue.com/wp-admin/theme-editor.php
If this doesn’t work or you have more questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help!

Hey fstat, I have the same issue, and going to /wp-admin/theme-editor.php throws me a 403 error. I tried changing browsers because I couldn’t even access the Dashboard from Chrome, but I still can’t see the Editor in the Appearance menu.
Any ideas?

EDIT: adding a notify replies by e-mail.
By the way I’m hosting my blog in wordpress.com, and using no plugins.

Hi @tsoundt, you wouldn’t have access to the theme editor unless you have a business plan. If you’d like to start a new topic, though, we may be able to hep you without needing the actual editor.

Also, for what it’s worth, we’d recommend against directly editing a theme anyway, since that will cause you trouble every time the theme updates. There are usually better ways to go about whatever you’re after. If you’ll post a new thread with your goals, we’ll point you in the best direction.

Thanks @supernovia! Yes I found out that the problem is that I have a free account and I’m hosted in wordpress.com, and there are restrictions.
I wanted to add CSS and Bootstrap to my site, I’m not interested in adding plugins. So I guess my only option is either get a business plan or download wordpress from wordpress.org and host it elsewhere.
I’ll create a new topic with one specific question anyway, for which I think I already know the answer: Is there a way to add CSS into my wordpress.com hosted website/blog if I don’t have a paid plan?

@tsoundt Answered you here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/is-there-a-way-to-add-css-or-bootstrap-into-my-wordpress-com-hosted-website/
Since the original poster’s question has been answered and we don’t want to continue to send them unnecessary email notifications of new replies to their thread, I’ll go ahead and close this thread. You are welcome to follow up in your other thread if you have any other question about this.
Cheers!
