theme editor keeps changing background colour

    Hi! I’m new to all this :s
    Today I installed wordpress locally, to set everything up before going online.
    I have found a few themes that I liked and wanted to play around with.
    The only problem now is that when I install the theme and use it it is not properly
    displayed. The colour is meant to go over the entire width of the page, like a background colour… instead it’s just black…

    as you see, the pink is present as a background colour on both sides of the column.
    but when I install it instead of pink, it’s black.
    I’ve been looking everywhere in the code and can’t work out what to change :s
