theme for coders
-
Hi I´m looking for a simple modern free theme with nice looking support for showing php and other code in a post.
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I´d love to have a look like on scotch.io: https://scotch.io/tutorials/generate-dummy-laravel-data-with-model-factories

Hi there! You can post code on any theme on WordPress.com using the shortcode explained here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/code/posting-source-code/.
For the theme, maybe one of these free options:
Nucleare: https://wordpress.com/themes/nucleare/
Twenty Sixteen: https://wordpress.com/themes/twentysixteen/
Twenty Fifteen: https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/twentyfifteen/
Tonal: https://wordpress.com/themes/tonal/Or you can browse all of the free themes here to see what catches your eye: https://wordpress.com/themes/type/free/
Let me know if you have any questions! :)

Thanks, that works, but it looks really ugly :)
I want it to look more like on scotch.io with a dark background.
I probably could inject my custom css styles, but I guess there are already custom styles available?
I cannot find any unfortunately :( -
Haha. Yeah, that’s the default.
If you have an upgrade that allows custom CSS (like Premium), you might be able to style them that way in a way that works for the look you’re going for. Although I haven’t seen any examples of that now that I think about it… If you decide to go that route and have any trouble, drop your questions into the CSS Customization forum and we can work on seeing what’s possible.
Or the plugin version has other color themes available, but only works with self-hosted WordPress.

Ok thanks, I managed to style it by throwing in a style from the plugin into the custom css field.
See it here if you like:

Ah now I understand, I got this custom css feature because I got it free for 14 days, that means, after that period my blog will look ugly again … too bad :((
There should be a configuration option for theme like
your code here
-
Thanks for the suggestions, @entwickler99.
Most themes come with a few free featured palettes. Do you want to find one that includes some dark palette options? Twenty Sixteen, does, for example.
-
Are you talking about palettes for the theme as a whole or about palettes for the code highlighting (which is what my question is about)?
-
Ahhh I understand now. We don’t have that feature, but I’d be happy to suggest it. Thanks! And you can use CSS in the meantime.
