Theme got lost!!

    I created this blog in 2013 and hadn’t done much with it for awhile, but still loved and shared it. Last night I tried looking at different themes and my grunge theme is gone, not to be found anywhere. Yeah, shoulda taken a screen shot, but alas…
    Is there a way of going ‘backwards’ to retrieve what was there???

    Hi there,

    It can be frustrating when major changes are tricky to undo, especially after years of work!

    This article has a section that explains how to return to a previous theme. If you haven’t already, you might be able to retrieve the theme you want by checking your activity log:

    If that doesn’t work, let us know, and we can keep troubleshooting!

    Having taken a closer look at your activity logs, I can see that the theme you originally had on your site was an older one that we retired some time ago: https://wordpress.com/theme/greyzed

    In the case of retired themes like this, while we do allow sites to continue to use a retired theme if it was active at the time it was retired, if you switch away from it to try out another theme, there is no way to get it back.

    We’re happy to help you take this opportunity to find a new theme and freshen your site up, but we are not able to restore the theme you once used I’m afraid.

    Sure appreciate your offer to help. It makes me ill that I did this to myself- LOVED that theme and how it worked with my subject of pencil art.
    Ive tried a dozen or so of the themes that show up as available, and none of them even compare, nor do they transition to anything resembling what I had.
    With open arms, I’d take suggestions from re: what to do or where to go next!

    Thanks for asking.
    If you pull up the Greyzed theme, you might see. I love the b&w, the grunge look, the menu that used to be along the top. I liked that the theme worked Super well with pencil drawing, the subject of the blog. I liked the side bar menu, but could live w/out that.
    SO wish I took a screen shot!! I can’t emulate what it was with any of the couple dozen themes I easily see…

    All those themes are fully compatible with the new Site Editor. So you can tweak them to better match your content.

    Those might work given I add my own backrounds, I guess. Looks like I’ll need to kinda start over with “How to WordPress.” 😂
    Not sure how WP seemed so easy 10 years ago and so tricky now.
