I was trying to buy a Theme, and bought hosting instead. Can I get a credit that switches the money from hosting to buying the new theme?

    Hi there,

For plans and all other purchases, you must cancel within 30 days of purchase to receive a refund. If you used the domain credit to register a new domain, the normal cost of registration will be deducted from your refund. If you mapped an existing domain, or never used a domain, you will receive a full refund. There are no refunds, pro-rated or otherwise, after 30 days.

If you are within the refund period, head to your Manage Purchases page. This page can be accessed through your Me page in the “Manage Purchases” section of the left sidebar.

Find the upgrade you’d like to refund in the list and select Cancel and Refund.

You will be refunded to the same payment method you used for your purchase. After processing, refunds usually take about ten days to appear on your statement. For credit card refunds, it could take up to 1-2 billing cycles for the refund to show up. International refunds can take even longer to reach you. Your financial institution is going to be able to tell you when to expect the refund and how it will be listed on your statement.

    Refund a Purchase

    Thank you.

  • Hi there,

The account you’re using to post here does not own any upgrades on WordPress.com, and we don’t sell hosting on WordPress.com either – hosting here is free and we only sell optional upgrade plans on our sites.

What exactly did you buy, where did you buy it, and for what site? If you bought hosting from a different company, you need to contact them for a refund.

Also note that if you’re trying to buy a theme somewhere else, you’ll only be able to use that theme on a WordPress.com site if you have the Business Plan. The only themes that can be used on free WordPress.com sites are the ones listed at https://wordpress.com/themes
