Theme Install

    Hi,

I bought a WordPress theme on Theme Forest.

I’ve tried to install it. But a prompt tells me I must purchase a Business plan to install it.

Has WordPress disabled the ability to install themes without a plan?

    Thank you for your support.

    WP.com: Yes

It was never possible to install a third party theme or plugins on the wordpress.com platform. You are probably confusing with the open source wordpress.org.

T know the difference between the wordpress.com platform and the wordpress.org software, https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

  • Hi there,

As @staartmees correctly pointed out, the ability to install third-party themes on WordPress.com is indeed reserved for our Business plan users.

With the Free plan, you have access to a vast selection of free themes that are already available on WordPress.com. You can browse and select any of these themes at https://wordpress.com/themes/free. These themes have been designed by our team with a broad range of styles and functionalities to meet a variety of website needs.

However, if you’re looking for something more, our Premium plan might be a great fit. It’s a more affordable plan, and you’d be happy to know that it includes access to all our Premium themes at no extra cost. If you’re interested, you can quickly upgrade below.

Ultimately, the choice is up to you based on your specific needs and the vision for your site. If you have any further questions or need help deciding which plan might be best for you, I’m here to help.
