Theme installation

  Yesterday I purchased a new theme from another website and I paid 39$ for it, apparently I’m not able to put the theme through WordPress directly as it’s only accessible for Business plan users (I’m using a premium), I also am trying to use FTP but according to your website, WordPress doesn’t allow any FTP, neither can I see the Appearance folder on my WordPress page. What’s wrong with this? And is there any solutions I can use the theme? I feel extremely frustrated and it’s unbelievable how confusing this could be.

  Hello @felixskoglund8,

  I am so sorry to hear this. Yes, you will need a Business Plan in order to upload your custom theme.

  FTP is not possible at all, as it’s not provided by WordPress, regardless of the plan you have.

  The Appearance page for your site is in here –

  http://felixskoglundblog.com/wp-admin/themes.php

  But then, the Upload option to upload your custom theme won’t be available.

  I’m afraid, the only option for you to be able to use the theme you just purchased is to upgrade your WordPress site to Business.

  Frustrating. Do you think its worth purchasing that? It’s very expensive and I’m already using a premium plan…

  Thank you for your answer, you are really kind :)
  Do you think trying another hosting websites would be helpful and cheaper? WordPress premium hasn’t really been convincingly comfortable either actually.

  Thank you. :) I think you haven’t utilized it’s features the most yet.

  Personally, I have been doing this for quite a while, in between self-hosted sites and WordPress.com. But one of the many things that keeps myself here is the audience.

  In WordPress.com, you already have billions of users for your possible traffic, and it’s user-friendly. With self-hosted, it’s like from that word itself – you’re standing alone. It’s like building everything from scratch, traffic, website, etc.

  As a part of your Premium plan upgrade, you also have access to 300+ free AND Premium themes available on WordPressdotcom, which you can see here: https://wordpress.com/themes/ and I see you are using Rosalie, which is a great Premium theme.

  If you have your heart set on using the theme you purchased elsewhere, as staff-imahappyengineer mentioned, you’ll only be able to do so if you upgrade here to the Business plan, or alternatively set up your website with a different web hosting service.
