Theme Not Linking “Home” to Blog Posts

I recently changed to the “Impressionist” theme and I’m struggling to link “Home” to the index template. I want visitors to be able to click “Home” and see the main page of my blog posts in order.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

After reading over the directions from the support bot, I created a page called “Front Page” and “Blog” and then went to Settings–>Reading to use static pages with “Front Page” as the homepage and “Blog” for the posts.

Where I had made the mistake was not understanding static pages to begin with and then not realizing I needed to use a page specifically called “Front Page” for the homepage. This is a little confusing for me because I’ve never had a blog theme like this before.

    Hello @vintagestardust19,

Excellent work! I’ve checked your site and can confirm that you’ve successfully created a page titled Index, which redirects to a page displaying your posts in order. If you’d like to rename the page to Home, you can follow the instructions in this guide:

The original question I had–and was resolved by the support bot–was linking the index template to show blog posts when visitors click “Home”, which I retitled to “Blog”.

The index page you’re seeing, when clicked, takes visitors to a category list on my blog, since the drop down menu didn’t work when I tried adding it on the menu bar.

Thank you for your response and the links you provided! :)

It sounds like your theme might not be correctly set up to link the ‘Home’ menu item to your blog posts page. Here are a few things to check:

    1. Settings > Reading – Make sure your “Posts page” is assigned correctly (not “Your latest posts”).
    2. Menu Configuration – Go to Appearance > Menus and verify:
      • The ‘Home’ link is set to your blog page (not a custom link or static homepage).
      • The menu is assigned to the correct location (e.g., “Primary Menu”).
    3. Theme-Specific Settings – Some themes override default behavior. Check your theme’s Customizer or documentation for a “Blog Page” option.
    4. Cache/Plugins – Clear any caching plugins and temporarily deactivate others to rule out conflicts.
