theme not loading properly

  • Unknown's avatar

I keep trying to design my site…upload a theme and modify it the way I want but the themes aren’t loading properly. They all look completely different once I apply them to my page. Obviously I want to make a few changes but since the first attempt, after adding a little content and changing some menus…every theme i load then looks the same. Not at all like I want.

I’d like the Orivs theme. Almost identically to the way it appears on the themes page, I just want to insert my own photos. I’ve tried reloading it several times and it simply won’t look right. I’ve added a gallery to take the place of the one it comes with…nothing.

    Please help.

    Hi,

I’m using Orvis too here https://savorsnap.com/ so maybe I could offer some help.

    Here’s what you need:
    1. A page called ‘front page’
    2. Create Projects
    3. Set the static front page to the ‘front page’

    Here’s the breakdown:

    1. A page called ‘front page’
You need to create a page, name it ‘front page’, and in the editor, you can fill what you want.
MAKE SURE the template is set to ‘Portfolio Page Template’
Here’s mine to give you an illustration:

Once you’re done, hit the publish.

    2. Create Projects
Orvis front page use ‘project’ to display the thumbnails.
In the dashboard, click ‘Portfolio’, see http://i.imgur.com/UzwXCt7.png
You’ll be directed to new tab/window, click ‘add new’
Enter the title, upload some images and add them into the editor

    Hit publish

    3. Set the static front page to the ‘front page’
    Go to theme > customize
Once you’re in customizer, click Static Front page and choose the option as follow:

    Hopefully you’re all set now.

Let me know if you have any other question.
