Theme not showing up in my site
-
I selected the Rebalance theme and there’s nothing indicating at all that the theme is even there at all.
I selected that theme and clicked on the “customize site” button, but then when I try to use it, the theme isn’t there.
What in the world could I possibly be doing wrong? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I wish I can upload a picture of the rebalance theme and my “site”, so I can show that it’s not working at all. There seems to be quite a disconnect. I wonder if the theme has been discontinued.

https://bobkimballfineart.wordpress.com/ is correctly wearing the Rebalance theme. There are always going to be images/settings that carry over from the previous theme you were using. Set up instructions are here: https://wordpress.com/theme/rebalance

Okay, thanks for your response. When I checked it before, it didn’t have the banner at the top so I though it wasn’t working at all. But the thing is, I’m not given a choice of how to upload images or for that matter how to reposition them. I’m feeling that the company is showing something that you cannot do. I only have a mostly blank page with no images and no way to install any.
Anyway, I’ll read the article and see if that helps. I’ve been working on wordpress for about 3 hrs. now and hardly getting anywhere.
Thanks again. -
Until you start making a few more posts and pages with images etc you can’t really see how a site/theme is going to look. You need a certain amount of content before it all begins to make sense.
-
Ok, I was looking all over the place to see how to add other images to the page but there is no way.
The page that shows how rebalance is supposed to look is not reality. I tried and tried and can’t seem to see how to make it the same basic way they did. I’m starting to wonder if they made a mistake and showed a different theme. -
What I’m saying is that there is no option to add other images to the page or set them up in tiles like they show it. I checked every option there is and there is no way to do it.
-
As I said above, the blog page will look more like the demo when you have a number of posts to display there.
-
Ok, let me just explain. No matter what I do, I can’t get ANY images on my site except for the banner.
When I’m uploading images into the portfolio, it says “saved”, but it doesn’t show up ANYWHERE. Not in the back end, not in the published website… nowhere.
I think there is something wrong with the rebalance theme. I don’t see any other explanation for it. -
Portfolios can be quite complicated to set up. I’d be inclined to set up some images in Blog Posts on your Blog page first and then study the following about Portfolios:
The Featured Content area displays selected portfolio projects, and is displayed above posts on the homepage and above projects on the Portfolio page template.
To set up the Featured Content area:
Navigate to Customize → Featured Content.
Choose a word to use as your Featured Content tag and add it in the text field. We suggest using a lowercase, single word, like featured.
Click the Publish button to save changes.
Create at least a few portfolio projects. For each project you’d like to feature, use the Tags & Categories area of the editor to add the tag you chose under Customize → Featured Content.
Add a featured image that’s at least 1200px wide to each project you’re featuring.
Rebalance takes advantage of the Portfolio feature on WordPress.com, offering unique layouts and organization for your portfolio projects.
People love seeing full-size images of your work, so make sure the images you include are at least 1200px wide. Rebalance displays these images at nearly full width on larger screens.
Rebalance Portfolio Template
This template will display your portfolio and allow you to set your portfolio as the site’s front page.
When you first activate Rebalance, you’ll see your posts laid out in a grid. If you’d like to use the portfolio page template as the front page of your site which displays your projects, it’s simple to configure:
Create or edit a page, and assign it to the Portfolio Page Template from the Page Attributes module.
Go to Settings → Reading and set “Front page displays” to “A static page”.
Select the page you just assigned the Portfolio Page Template to as “Front page” and set another page as the “Posts page” to display your blog posts. -
Ok, thanks.
I don’t really want to upload my images like a blog post because I had it like that with blogger and I don’t like that at all. That’s why I don’t use blogger anymore.
Also, it the article you posted it says that when you first activate rebalance, you see your posts laid out in a grid, but that’s not true. The is no grid. And my images are just not showing up at all.
Rebalance has no way to upload images. That’s why I started with the portfolio because rebalance isn’t working. I went to all the settings and tried everything I could for hours now and still can’t get it to work. WordPress and especially rebalance are very frustrating to learn. -

There has to be enough published content to display in a grid. I don’t see a blog page now. You’ve deleted it from your menu. Add it back and publish half a dozen blog posts with images instead of just the one and you’ll see a grid.

Ok, I tried to insert another image but I can’t seem to do that. I’m trying everything I can but when I do, it seems to not show it no matter what I do. The only image I have posted right now in on the “prints” page and I don’t even remember how I got it there, because now I can’t upload another one. Also, I didn’t intentionally delete the blog page. It just disappeared somehow. I guess I made that happen but I don’t know how.
I really would like to make something work so I can make a sale or two so I can afford the business plan.
Also, I’m losing confidence in my ability to use WP so I don’t know if I’ll eventually get it or not anyway.
Also, WP seems to use a whole different language than every other website builder which makes it MUCH harder to learn.
Anyway, what I’m trying to do is upload images to different pages so I can test the grid theory and get my site going. And yes, I’m going to insert paypal buttons manually.
-
Another question is, am I only allowed to insert more than one image on the blog page, but not other pages? That wouldn’t make any sense but it seems to be how it works since I can’t find out how to upload images to pages.

WordPress.com can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. @justjennifer gave you numerous links to help you get going in your other thread.
As for images, when you are editing a page, portfolio or post just click on the + in a circle “add content” on the left then “media” below. This will open up a new window where you may or may not have images you have already uploaded to your Media Library. To upload an image that you have stored on your own computer click “add new”, find the image, click “insert” and “update” top right of the screen.
