Theme Premium – clarification

  • Unknown's avatar

The plan expires in April, initially I thought of monthly renewal (I had spoken to customer service) but I will probably renew the annual business plan ($40).

I would like to know if this affects the Premium theme, because today I wanted to change the ‘aquene’ theme that is no longer available, and the new premium ones require a subscription.

    Thank you

  • Howdy –

Thanks for writing to us. You’re able to use any premium theme as part of a business plan. I think what’s happening here is that your domain, musicaest.com, hasn’t been incorporated with the business plan yet. I can do that for you, just write back and let me know if you want that done – or if you plan to use this plan with a different domain.

yes I continue to use musicaest.com

But, sorry I didn’t understand, I have the domain in the business plan since 2018, I had a problem with a downgrade in 2021 (if I remember correctly) which I then restored with an upgrade.

If I follow your procedure does it change anything to the current URLs of the site?

    Thank you

  • Thanks for clarifying.

I had a problem with a downgrade in 2021 (if I remember correctly) which I then restored with an upgrade.

I did check your support history but did not find this specific interaction. Generally speaking though, our Business Plan does allow you to add things (such as to upload plugins or 3rd party themes) that are not possible on sites on our lower-level plans.

In the case of the Aquene theme, because we have retired it from our theme directory, it’s not possible to add it to a site under the Premium Plan. The only way to retain the use of that theme is to remain on the Business Plan. I do see that you chatted with us earlier in the week and we switched you to monthly billing at that time.

If you wish to downgrade your site will typically revert to a free theme and then from there you would be able to pick a new theme for your site. For example you could consider a different “magazine” style theme: https://wordpress.com/themes/musicaest.com?s=magazine

You would also lose any plugins you’ve added, such as Ad inserter, CookieYes | GDPR Cookie Consent, Bing Webmaster Url Submission, etc.

If you do opt to downgrade to Premium, one thing to consider is that you can use our blocks editor to create custom displays of blog posts, so you might actually gain some new abilities by switching to a more modern theme. Our recent webinar has some good examples of what I mean.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

I have not asked to downgrade the site now, I just said what happened in the past. Please is it possible to be in line with the answer of @staff-zinnia gave ?

I repeat my question I have the business plan but I can’t use aquene because as I wrote before, it is no longer among the premium plans (I already knew this), and I want to change the theme and I was trying to understand the answer @ gave me staff-zinnia .

”…I think what’s happening here is that your domain, musicaest.com, hasn’t been incorporated with the business plan yet…”

Why is it not incorporated, since I have the business plan?

I add to be clear, that in April I will almost certainly do the annual renewal of the business at $40 per year, instead of the monthly one as I initially told the assistance.

I really hope I don’t get a third different answer

    Thank you

  • Hi Yolande,

I would like to know if this affects the Premium theme

No, switching between a monthly and yearly Business plan doesn’t affect your current Premium theme.

I wanted to change the ‘aquene’ theme that is no longer available, and the new premium ones require a subscription.

There are two kinds of Premium themes. The Premium themes you get with a Premium or higher plan, and the Paid Premium themes you can purchase separately if you’re on the Business plan.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and I’ll be happy to help.

Thanks, I understood better. I don’t need any other assistance right now.

    Have a good day
