Theme Recommendations please

Hello,
I’m new to wordpress and blogs. I’m looking for recommendations for a blog theme. So far I think the theme syntax might be my choice but not started on blog yet and want to do my best effort so I’m open to suggestions.
On my blog ,which will be a sort of story/expose of troubles ive had with my housing association, I want to upload 5 photo’s and probably 10 emails from them and a voice recording file from them. I want it to be a simple design format with my story of my troubles… then an uploaded email or photo etc and so on.
So any recommendations would be greatly received and thanks.

Hi David,
Dyad is one of my personal favourite blogging themes at the moment. It features posts on the home page and its design relies heavily on featured images.
In terms of minimal blogging themes, Penscratch, Kelly, and Twenty Fifteen are also popular.
Theme choice is very much down to personal preference, though! I encourage you to take time during these early stages of your blog to experiment and browse around for a theme that works right for you.

Thanks Penscratch and Twenty Fifteen look like the type of thing that would suit my blog.
This will take me a bit of time to create as im not to good with all the terminology etc and how to do things, but say if I decide to use penscratch and im a week or two into creating it and then think twenty fifteen might be better , can I click on the icon that changes the theme and all my work would be transposed over to the new theme ? Or is it a case of starting over from the beginning ? in which case I should take a bit of time to decide which theme I use .

Hi David,
After making a theme switch: All of your site’s content will remain intact. Only theme-specific settings (such as page templates) and widgets will be lost.
You can therefore switch themes at any point without fear of losing your content. Just be aware that you may need to tweak some theme-specific settings and add any widgets you’ve added back.
