Theme Recommendations

Plus, there have been multiple forum threads about iTheme already in which these issues were addressed.
The criteria seem clear enough to me; you need to provide proof that the theme is GPL. I don’t know how to go about making that easier for people to understand.

Please, please, please!

Did you even look at the preview of that theme before suggesting it? Scroll to the bottom and you’ll see that completely screws up nested lists. It’s not Automattic’s job to fix up themes by people who can’t code. I’m not even bothering to look up the licence.

[Also, why do I still have an Edit link immediately after I post when I don’t have an Edit function?]

Photopress, by Brian Gardner, is GPL’d: http://themes.performancing.com/themes/announcing-the-photopress-wordpress-theme-for-photoblogs/
If adopted, it would be the first photoblog theme here. It could also be used simply as an elegant one-column blog. Check it out.

The GPL doesn’t allow the user to remove such messages? http://www.opensource.org/licenses/gpl-license.php
-
It is GPL, but typically they require the sponsored link to remain in the theme, which wordpress will not do. You can do whatever you want to it as long as that link remains.

Oh. Well, sorry to waste everyone’s time, then.
It sure would be nice to have a photoblog theme at WordPress.com – something we could use to lure non-geek photographer friends into blogging.

I now have this theme that is GPL and that I have requested in this thread be adapted to run on wordpress.com running on my wordpress install. http://themes.wordpress.net/columns/2-columns/1484/dkret2-10/
It’s a cool theme for sure with an obscene number of sidebars (:P to wank} and everything works. I exported blog contents from a blog here that was showing 80 validation errors and imported it into the other site and VOILA! I now have 2 to correct.
DKret schemes are CSS files that allow you to visually customize your blog, without ever touching dkret2’s core files.
The font is a readable size without alteration. The Ajax comments are cool. You can choose either to Show new comments first or last. You can even upload multiple files and randomly circle through them if you enable ‘Show Random Header Picture.’
It displays gravatars. You can separate Trackbacks from Comments. Frankly, I’m surprised that wordpress.com does not have this theme up and running here and will be interested to hear staff feedback.

@sonofbruce
You’re welcome. The reason I know about it is because my friends are photographers. You’re gona love it because there is also a “community” there. -
Another one I’d like. It is really slick and well designed. I don’t know if .com would be scared of the Ajax thing or not, but I hope they consider it.
