I love the dark background themes like the one i use for theleatherdistrictgourmet.wordpress.com – but many readers over the age of 40 have a very hard time with the contrast…is there anyway to sharpen that or to change the font size? I do not know CSS so if it’s a “purchase your solution” answer, that won’t help. Just thought some age-sensitive designer might want a tip…THANK YOU!

PLEASE, Please, please ……more themes. More plain, simple, smaller-font, non-garish themes. Scott Wallick over at plaintxt.org has brilliant, plain themes that will stand the test of time. I would love to see:

Hi.
I just joined WordPress and i love it so far. I’m currently in between WP and LiveJournal… LiveJournal lets you customise your own layout (CSS only, not HTML) for free so i was pretty bummed when i found out you can’t do that here. I found a really nice WordPress layout that, to me, is nothing like the current ones you have now…
it’s called Flat:

There are different types of versions for Flat: some with headers above navigation links, below, headers on the sidebar, and no headers, 1 column, 2 columns, and 3 columns. An option for all the ones there would be nice. ;))

Hello there.
I’ve been a user of WordPress for quite some time now and always enjoyed using it for its’ outstanding features. But I must say, the themes are, in a word, disappointing, especially since you do not offer free customization of layout unlike Blogger. It’s either the fonts are “too big” or the template does not allow “custom header” or the colour is simply too “blue”. It’s always BLUE, isn’t it?
Here is what I suggest. I’ve seen some of the themes featuring on Blogsome and I loved ’em! Simple, classy and just the way I like it.

Hy! i was wondering if “wordpress” could upload some new themes in the themes dir :D i found a site that has some cool themes and free to download… and if the admin of wordpress could update the themes dir with these ones :D http://www.toptut.com/category/free-wordpress-themes/page/3/ what i want to be uploaded is the dance queen theme :D and others, because there are nice and good looking, not just for me..but for all users :D… waiting for reply!

I would like to see more two-column themes with a left-hand sidebar. There are very few themes with a left-hand menu option. Some examples are new themes that I would like to see are:

I would love to see more designs that have a clear separation between posts. Individual boxes maybe? Simply having a different colored headline still makes blog entries look somewhat chaotic (well, to me at least 8).
Here an example of an easy read (albeit an ugly design, but it shows the idea):
