THEME SELECTION
-
I’VE JUST SIGNED UP WITH WORDPRESS AND WANT TO SELECT A THEME AND START WRITING.
I FOUND THE THEME I WANT BUT THE PAGE HAS NO INFORMATION ON HOW TO BEGIN….NOTHING THAT SAYS “OKAY, LET ME HAVE THIS THEME.” (OR WORDS TO THAT EFFECT.)
HOW DO I PROCEED? -
Please start by deactivating the Caps lock key on your keyboard. No one wants to feel like another person is SCREAMING! at them. Typing in all capital letters is referred to as shouting because that’s how it feels when we read it.
Please also post an active link starting with http:// to the blog in question so we can confirm which software you are referring to and help you.

The blog really doesn’t exist yet. There in lies the problem.
Wordpress allows one to look at themes for blogs but as far as
I can see, there is no way to actually select a theme and begin writing
the blog. -
Sequence of events:
1) Sign up for a blog – (You should be able to do that from the account you now have – click on your name in the top bar and should be either a Sign up for a blog or manage blogs – either way – click on Get a blog or what ever and follow the prompts – takes a couple of minutes)
2) Select a theme if you don’t like the default theme
3) Start Writing

You cannot install a theme to a blog that does not exist. When we register a free hosted WordPress.com blog it has the default Twenty Eleven theme on it. If we wish to select another theme we go here > Appearance > Themes and select a theme. A thumbnail image appears and we click “preview” and see how it looks on our blog. If we like it then we click “Activate” and it becomes the theme we use.
I repeat what’s key here is registering a blog. You cannot change a theme until you have a blog that comes as all do with the default Twenty Eleven them. Without a blog all one can do is demo themes on the demo site.
To register a blog follow these instructions > http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
