THEME Shoreditch

Sorry if I offended, didn’t mean to.
Without a list of what is supported it becomes interpretive when looking at a demo. What to one person appears as a tagline does not appear so to another. I have gone through a dozen themes that seem to have taglines, but, when implemented, do not.

I am not offended at all. I am multitasking from my business and serving my own clients and customers as I answer question here as a Volunteer. Do not worry. Supernovia will help you as soon as she can.

I understand, we all have other things to do. In my real life I am a mainframe programmer. I run a couple sites for local charities, but have to move on from self-hosted / created sites to this because of lack of time. I can’t just port their sites over to here, so I am trying to find something that will work. I will lose a lot of functionality, but I simply cannot continue supporting it any longer.

LOL. Vax, to me, is not old. I was weaned on an RCA Spectra 70.

Coded in BAL (basic assembler language). I created code for some of the first terminal interface systems. In the 80’s I even wrote for Byte Magazine on the Apple //’s assembly language, interfacing the // with cash registers for clients I supported.

I taught FORTRAN in college, helped work on the development of GOTRAN. It’s been a long career, and (happily) coming to an end soon. I remember working on systems where 30k of memory was huge.
I had the pleasure of working with two SE’s who worked on some of the original equipment, where an 8k computer took up an entire room, was filled with vacuum tubes, and took an A/C using almost as large to cool it. That is where the term “computer bug” came into being.

We are a dying breed, literally. I have enjoyed 90% of my career, from systems programmer to consultant. I only regret these last few years, should have gotten out sooner. Back then you could do anything at the drop of a hat because it was needed. Now it’s all business, with paperwork to fill out, quality control personnel to deal with, review boards to go through. It was a lot more fun pulling a card out of a deck, patching it, putting it back in, then telling everyone, “Just run it, it’ll be okay.”

Been nice chatting. G’night. On call tonight, have to get sleep before all hell breaks loose, usually around 2am.

Best wishes for sweet dreams.

It seems to show (under Dara, about the round buttons) what I would think of as a tagline, yet it does not say that it supports a tagline in the description of the theme. Am I missing something?
Sorry @moderntheologian, I don’t know if we consider “visible tagline” a listable theme feature, however you can view them on the demos. I’ll pass along the feedback to the theme team, though :)
You should be able to tell from the screenshot whether or not there’s a tagline there. You could also click into the demo.
You can also look for themes that support logos, since you could embed a tagline in a logo. This page may be of help to you:

Thanks, @supernovia, that makes some sense. I did go into the theme search page and found I can search on “tag line” (not tagline) and got results, did not think of it as two words.
Now the link you provided should be front-and-center on the theme selection page! That makes everything (well, almost) understandable. I was wrong on what I thought some of the terms meant. Having a description of them makes selections a lot easier.
Hopefully two last questions, if I haven’t run out of them.
Looking at a theme called Karuna (just an example), the theme page is:
https://wordpress.com/themes/karuna/
On the right side of the theme page, is that a list of the features that the theme provides?
The cost of a theme, is that a one-time, cost, annual, monthly?
My plan is to get this up as a demo for the group to review, then go live. At that time we will probably go with one of the annual payment plans. I assume that will not affect the theme that we choose?

You can ask as many questions as you’d like, no worries. And I’m glad you like the developer page. It’s a bit more in-depth than some of the other stuff (which can be intimidating to many) but it sounds like it’s helpful to you, so I’m glad you’ve got it now.
– Yes, the features on the right of https://wordpress.com/themes/karuna/ are that theme’s features. In another view, the features appear as a “cloud” at the bottom:
https://wordpress.com/theme/karuna– The cost is one-time if you are buying the theme outright. Just know it applies to one site that is hosted on WordPress.com . Also, if you are using WordPress.com Business (which has a yearly fee) you can use any Premium theme without paying extra. Just note if you downgrade, you would need to buy the theme to keep it.
