Theme Sketch: Turkish characters
-
Dear team,
I am using a theme called ‘Sketch’ in my blog and my blog is in Turkish language. I can see all the characters correctly however some of the Turkish characters(ğ, ş, İ) are shown in bold and it looks quiet strange.
I appreciate if you can help me to solve this problem.Thank you in advance,

Thanks for reporting the issue.
I will share this with our Theme Team and have them look at it. -
This is nearly the same problem as here:

Thanks for bringing up the other thread. You are correct, the specified font-weight is missing for the language. Using Custom Design upgrade is one way to solve it, but I shared it internally to see if we can come up with a different solution moving forward.
It’s likely the problem you are having is going to be solved immediately since we are currently not making modifications targeted for certain languages. Meanwhile, if you decide to add Custom Design upgrade and would like to know how to modify the CSS, I’d be happy to help!

I should have read your last post more carefully :)
Actually the Lato font is turned off for the Sketch theme in Turkish. I’ll take a closer look…

Hi yenerceren!
Actually, the font setting to turn off the Lato font is not live yet, since the theme translation is below 85%. We automatically deploy theme translations when it reaches 85%, otherwise none of the translations (including the font setting) appear on blogs.
Could you add more translations to the theme, so that the Lato font setting is turned off for Turkish? -
Hi Naokomc,
I have added some translation, can you please kindly check?
If you need any other help from my side please let me know. I hope now the translation is reached above 85%.
Looking forward to your response! -
Thanks, Ceren!
I’ve validated your translations with some help from a colleague who speaks Turkish. Your translations and the font change should go live at next automated deploy, within 24 hours. -
Dear Naokomc,
The font has been updated, thank you for your help.
All the characters look good however the letters are bold comparing to how it was before. I am kind of disappointed to see this change.
Can you please kindly confirm if this is the correct letter type for this theme? Thanks in advance
