Theme Suggestions

Hello, I need some suggestions for which theme to use. Id like to have a home page that shows a few of my most recent posts along with other content and a page that shows all of my posts. Right now Im trying Baskerville 2. Unfortunately it seems the Home page wont let you show a few recent posts if you have another page set as the blog posts page. Suggestions?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

PS: this is for a totally new blog Im working on, not the one i currently have up and running.

Ixion sounds like a good match for what you’ve described. It has a “Recent Posts” section, but you can also include links and images for three Featured Pages.
You could also use a theme like Baskerville with a static front page, and use the display posts shortcode to list just a few posts.
The formatting with that shortcode will be different – you won’t get the same grid that’s built into Baskerville.
Another good approach is to try the different them demos – that way you can see what the home page looks like before you set the theme up on your own site :)

Thanks Chad. Those sound like good suggestions. The one other thing in regards to showing blog posts is this: The featured images that post with the blog excerpts are so big (either on the blog post page or the archives) How could I fix things so that I get a small thumbnail with a short excerpt aligned to the right of it? Would I have to post a separate thumbnail sized photo and use that as my featured photo (as I want to use the same photo full size in the actual post)? Thanks

That will depend entirely on the theme you settle on :)
Each theme specifies it’s own sizes for Featured Images. In some cases you can use Custom CSS (part of a Premium Plan or Business Plan) to make the image appear smaller :)
