Theme supports Category Pages

    Hi
    I am using the Crisp Theme on larnidavies.com and wish to import Category Menus but it isn’t showing up in my Menu tab in the dashboard. Does the Crisp Theme support this, if not how do I add custom menu’s to show in the top navigation bar showing my categories?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello there Larni (and adorable baby in your Gravatar),

    I took a look at your site and it appears as if your Categories are now appearing in your custom menu, and everything is working properly.

    If you have any other issues with Categories, or your menus, please do let me know! All the best to you.

    Thank you – I did work it out with Screen Options (to display categories in the menus field).

    I was also just wondering if there was anyway of decreasing the white space in my header (above and below my illustration)? I find you have to scroll down quite a bit to get past my header to read my posts.

    Is there also a way you can just have the pinterest, instagram and facebook badges on my sidebar widgets with wordpress.com or is that not possible?

    Thanking you
    Larni

    Hi Larni,

    To decrease the white space in your header, please paste the following into the CSS editor in Appearance →Customize:

    #header {
    padding: 0
    }

    Regarding the widgets: If you would like to add social networking buttons to your sidebar, you can certain do that. Instructions can be found here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/add-social-media-buttons-to-your-sidebar-or-footer/

    Otherwise, I see that you already have your social networking widgets set up and working properly in your sidebar.

    I hope this helps! Best wishes to you.

    Hello

    Thank you for being so helpful. I have now added my social media icons and was wondering if it would be possible to centre the icons in my widget sidebar. How do I do that?

    Thanking you

    You’re very welcome :)

    To center the icons within the boundaries of the text widget, paste the following code below the existing CSS:

    .textwidget {
    text-align: center;
    }

    Cheers!

    Hi
    I am not sure what I am doing wrong but I have copied the whole code .textwidget { text-align: center; } and placed it at the bottom of my CSS but then it actually appears under the social media icons?

    Also is there a way for the social media to open in a new tab window?

    Just one more question (I promise) – I am going to develop a blog for a friend and he has bought a theme from ‘Themeforest’ and I have downloaded it on my computer. Is there a way to import this theme the WordPress themes or do you have to use WP themes? I just can’t work out how to import it?

    Thanks so much
    Larni

    Hey Larni!

    1. I think you might have pasted the code I gave you into the text widget, instead of into your CSS editor.

      To go to your CSS editor, click Appearance → Customize. Then paste the following into the bottom of the editor, under the other code you pasted in:

      .textwidget { text-align: center; }

    2. You can open your social media buttons into a new windows by adding target=”new” into the brackets that contain your URL link. I wanted to give you a clear example of this, so if you check out your Pinterest link in your text widget, you’ll see how you can adjust the remaining social networking buttons.
    3. Regarding the Themeforest theme: You cannot upload third-party themes into WordPress.com-hosted sites. We offer over 250 theme (free and premium) that can be installed. If your friend is certain about using a Themeforest theme, it would have to be installed on a self-hosted site via WordPress.org.

      Here’s a breakdown of the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org:

      WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

    Let me know how this all works out for you! Take care.
