Theme Taken Down

  • Unknown's avatar

There used to be a free theme available that I can no longer find and wonder if it has been deleted for general use.

I cannot recall the name but it had a bit of a post apocalyptic look, grey with red writing. I know the description is a bit vague, apologies for that, but wonder if it has indeed been deleted, could it be reinstated?

    Thanks

    Steve

Hi there! Maybe you’re thinking about Greyzed? https://greyzeddemo.wordpress.com/

It’s been permanently retired, but I see you’ve got a similar post apocalyptic type theme on your site now, so maybe you’re all set?

If you’re missing the background from Greyzed, you could look for a background tile to use on your site to give a similar feel. Maybe something like this?

Let me know if you have any questions! :)

Retired themes do not support all wordpress.COM features, therefore, the recommendation is to switch themes and that’s easy to do.

The only themes we can use on WordPress.com hosted blogs are licensed and adapted to run on our multiuser software the themes are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and in your dashboard at > Appearance > Themes
    See: http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/

Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.

Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.

The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.

timethief: that theme was around for a long time so I assume it did support features in the past. I was looking for that specific theme as i had seen it before and know that it would have worked well so I have had to settle for something that is ok, but not quite as good.

AS for finding the themes etc, I am familiar with that. I was just curious as to the “why” that particular theme was retired. also as an idditional question, qhat would have happened if I was using that theme and it had been retired, would my blog have changed to some default blog theme?

    Added the tag modlook.

Could a mod/staff member advise why the greyzed theme was retired please. There are a lot of themes that look the same and that one was pretty unique in it’s look and feel.

Would you consider bringing the theme back?

Hi there! I found that the theme Greyzed was retired last August. Themes are retired because they can no longer support the majority of new WordPress features. For example, this theme is not responsive, so it doesn’t adapt to mobile devices.

h4hh, if the theme you’re using gets retired, you will not be able to find it to select to a new site, but you can keep using it on your site.
