Theme template editing

  Do I have to purchase the ability to edit the code in my theme?
  I am having an issue many folks have mentioned on the forum before, my featured image is appearing in an akward spot in the post though I want it present on the front page.
  I read that I can edit this code in the theme template however how do I access this code?

  Can you explain further what you mean by an awkward spot on the posts? I’m seeing the feature image right at the top of the post itself? Did you just want it to appear in the header area, but not in the single post page content area?

  I don’t want the featured image to appear in the post at all.
  I am not sure how to access the code though…
