Theme that supports photo expansion
-
Greetings,
I’m using wordpress.com and would like a theme where the photos will expand/enlarge when you click on them.
I know that gallaries will expand when you click on them, but I would like this to happen with single photos.
I have checked about 10 themes and NONE seem to have this function.
SOOOOO, could you suggest some themes that have this ability.
OR, can I add this functionality to any theme.
THANKS for your help!!!
Cheers,

What you describe can already be done regardless of which theme you are using.
Which editor are you using? The Calypso Editor (blue) or the WP Admin Editor?
Read https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/images-no-longer-allow-click-to-enlarge/#post-2924305 -
When I go to https://belleviewprop.wordpress.com/2015/08/17/history-of-2424-28-belleview/ and click the image it enlarges https://belleviewprop.files.wordpress.com/2015/08/dsc00904.jpg

THANKS for your quick response.
YES, it works on belleviewprop.wordpress.com
However, I creating a new website with the same theme (Shoreditch) and the photos are NOT enlarging when clicked.
Very strange…
Any ideas???

FYI…
Here is the new website with the same theme (Shoreditch)… but the photos don’t enlarge like the other site (bellviewprop.wordpress.com) that uses the same theme.
Why do you think this is happening???
NOTE: I created 2 posts… using the 2 different editors … with the same results :-(

Hi there, on the new site, the images have not been linked to the image file. Open the posts with the images that are not clickable, click on the image and then click the Link button on the editor tool bar (looks like three chain links). It will default to the image URL. Click the Add Link button at the bottom and then update the post.

Thanks for the tips!!!
Is there any way to make this a default??? I plan on creating several photo/travel blogs and each will contain 100’s of photos.
THANKS!

Not using the editor at My Site ->Blog Posts.
However, if you use the editor in WP-Admin, it will remember the last-used setting you used for linking the image, and apply that automatically with subsequent images you add.
To use that editor, go to https://belleviewprop.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ and click on Posts ->Add New.
Just note to start with the process is different there – there you will need to click the image after you insert it and click the pencil icon to edit it. Then look for the Attachment URL settings in the image options and set that to link to the image file, and save. From there on the next image should have that option added automatically.
However, if you’ll be adding multiple photos to a post, you might also want to consider using an image gallery instead. If you use a gallery, clicking on the image opens up a carousel where people can scroll through all the images in the gallery without having to click back and forth between the post and individual images:
-
You can also insert a Gallery using full size images in your post by changing the Gallery settings to these:

Also keep in mind that changing “LinkTo” has no effect when the Photo Carousel is the default display on our websites.
