Theme (Twenty Eleven & Ambiru)
-
Hi. I just upgraded to Premium so I could have more freedom to design the appearance of my blog. I am interested in changing to the Twenty Eleven theme but I’d like to add my own image to the header instead of using the default ones. It would be similar to my Ambiru theme. Is this possible!?
I like the header of my current theme with my image but I’ve been wanting more freedom to edit the location of my menus (I’d like to put them further up at the top of the page, on the right or left). If there are themes where I have both of these freedoms, could you kindly suggest them to me?
Thank you!The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
I would consider either Twenty Eleven or Twenty Twelve.
Both have widgets that are on the side, instead of the bottom, and both allow for custom header images. Twenty Twelve is a bit more flexible, but both are solid themes.
On the demo of Twenty Twelve, it shows a “home page” instead of a blog page, but that’s optional. The front page of your site, by default, would have a list of your blog posts like what you have now.
If you have other questions or need additional tips, please let me know. Cheers!

Kraft,
How do I get to the demos? I cannot figure out how to customize the header image on either of these themes.
All I can do is change the background image and that is not what I want to do.
Thanks!

Never mind! I see you have to “activate” it to change a lot of things. I think you should be able to customize all of that stuff before activating —maybe I was missing something!?— but I took the plunge, activated, and now I can customize what I want. Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion; it’s on our list. One reason we don’t allow too much customization pre-activation is we don’t currently transfer those “test” customizations if you activate the theme, so we don’t want folks like you to do detailed customization work, then have to redo if you decide to go with that theme.
That said, we’re working to allow more customizations during the preview as well as applying those customizations if you activate the theme.
Please let me know if you have any other questions or need anything else. Cheers!
