[Theme Twenty Sixteen] "Posts I Like" widget thumbnails size

    Currently, on checking, the sizing is 48x48px. Within the widget, I am unable to change the size, unlike in the Recent Comments widget, where you can choose what size gravatar you would like to see.

    The 48x48px thumbnail is really quite small and, therefore, ineffective. I would like to see some sort of sizing mechanism being available, as per the Recent Comments widget. Hope you will consider this. Otherwise, love the theme!

    Hi there,

    I’m glad to hear you love the theme. :)

    It’s possible to control the size of the thumbnails in that widget with some custom CSS.

    If you’re not familiar with CSS, it’s a coding language that’s used across the web to change the appearance of websites. Here at WordPress.com, it’s possible to add custom CSS to change certain parts of your theme’s appearance. You can read more about this here:

    To add custom CSS, you firstly need to navigate to My Site in the top left of WordPress.com and then choose the option to Customize in the left sidebar. You’ll reach what’s known as the WordPress.com Customizer:

    From here, click on the CSS tab. Below the introductory text in the resulting editor, copy and paste the following CSS:

    .widget_jetpack_posts_i_like .widget-grid-view-image {
    max-width: none;
}

.widget_jetpack_posts_i_like .widget-grid-view-image img {
    width: 55px;
}

    Increase/decrease the value of width to your liking. You can experiment. :)

    @siobhyb: Thanks so much for your quick response. I’ve checked my Customizer, and it says for me to make CSS changes I need to be on a Premium plan (which I was but am no longer). I have added the CSS code you show in your reply, but it has made no difference. Oh, well!

    Hi @jmndotme,

    You’re right that the option of adding CSS is a feature of our our paid plans, so you’ll need WordPress.com Premium or Business.

    You should be able to preview the changes in the Customizer before upgrading though.

    Let me know if you do decide to upgrade or if you have further questions on CSS.
