Theme Twenty Ten / aligmnet problem
-
Dear all,
I hope you can help. I like to place a link in the very bottom of the widget row of my blog.
So far I have not managed to place a link via relative (%) positioning. My idea was to just ad the following attribute:<p style=”text-align:bottom;”>TEXT HERE</p>
Only think which is working is to define the place absolute (px), but this is not what I want.
Thanky a lot for your help!
Best regards.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Dear 1tess,
thank you for your fast replay! You can find my blog at: http://agrarapps.com/
Like I said, I would like to place an element in the very bottom of the widget column, so at the end of my blog page. I would like to place there a link (text or image).
Would be great if you could tell me which html/css tags I have to use to bring an element to the bottom…
Thanks and best regards!

If you need help creating links in text widgets then this entry may be useful > http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/text-widget-links/ Also note the entry for alignment > http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#alignment

a) The text-align property doesn’t accept bottom: it accepts left, right, center and justify. Bottom is one of the accepted values for vertical-align.
And vertical-align:bottom doesn’t mean place at the bottom, it determines the horizontal alignment of an element in relation to other side-by-side elements.b) I’m not sure I understand where exactly you want the link. You mean just above the line that separates the footer from the main content?

Dear panaghiotisadam,
concerning your question (b): Yes, I want to place the link just above the line that separates the footer from the main content.
How can I do that? Thanks for your help!

Sorry – without the backtick you can see above.
#footer { position: relative; } #text-ID HERE { position:absolute; top:-50px; } -
Dear Oncard:
I don’t believe what you are trying to accomplish is possible while using a WordPress theme. You could achieve what you are seeking if you created your own homepage using HTML code. Otherwise, you are locked into how the theme handles the placement of widgts, and other elements. Your best bet may be placing a “text” widget in the “secondary widget area” on the sidebar as the last item.
You can visit out my blog and see how I used the “text” widget for my “Hot Topics” area (fyi, i added html codes to highlight the text and add a hyperlink).
-
@wheneveretc: oncard has the Custom Design upgrade. As you can see in my reply above, placing the content of a text widget elsewhere is quite possible if you have the upgrade.

You’re welcome, but it isn’t really working! What you created is a link to page 2 of your posts, not to older posts in general. If what you want is a more prominent “Older Posts” / “Newer Posts” link, you should modify the existing one. You can ask how in the CSS section of the forum.

Dear panaghiotisadam, you are right, it is not the ideal solution but it is working ;)
I asked in the CSS forum for the place in the CSS where I can change the style of the “older posts” / “newer posts” links. -
