Theme won't change
-
I’m trying to change my theme to triton lite and every time i click activate the box looks like it’s about to appear (the one that says thank you for choosing this theme etc) but then disappears and the theme it was before remains active. It only seems to be with this theme? I can change it to others. I’ve tried logging in and out and closing the browser no luck. I’m new to this please be kind!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @charlosmith!
I’ve just tested Triton Lite on a test site and it activated without an issue – could you please try clearing your browser cache and letting us know if you’re then able to activate the theme?

@charlosmith

Try using another browser. If you are not successful please provide this specific info:

Hi @charlosmith – Let us know if you have any luck with @timethief’s suggestions, or if you’re still having trouble with Triton Lite.
-
I must be going mad! Tried everything suggested still not working. It doesn’t work on both my laptop or iPhone. I’m currently on my iPhone 6 operating system IOS 10.2.1 using safari version 10.0
-
Hm, I’m not seeing any issues with Triton activations on the iPhone test we just ran here.
If you use a different browser like Chrome or Firefox, does the same thing happen?
-
Tried on the latest version of chrome on both my laptop and phone and still not changing

It’s odd that you’re having issues with this one theme on multiple browsers.
Can you check for any javascript errors in your browser console while activating the theme?
This page will show you how:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/advanced-browser-troubleshooting/#javascript-errorsIf there are errors, please take a screenshot of them so we can read them to see what they are. You can upload the screenshot to your WordPress.com site, or a service like cloudup.com and post the link here for us to view :)

I’m having the same problem with Triton Lite — I get the message “theme not yet available for this site.”

I’m getting anew notification on my phone now when I try and activate it it says ‘theme not yet available for this site’

Thanks for that error message @charlosmith – that led me in the right direction.
It turns out that Triton Lite is a retired theme (retired on June 17, 2016). It was still showing up in the theme listing accidentally (fixed now). Sorry for the confusion!
Because the theme is retired, sites that were created after the retirement date aren’t able to activate it, which is why you both had trouble with it!
Because the theme is retired, a new theme will be a better way to go. Triton Lite wasn’t a responsive theme, so it didn’t adapt well on mobile devices the way a newer theme will.
Looking at Triton Lite, my first recommendation would be Baskerville 2, since the grid is laid out similarly.
If you need a theme with a post slider, this list will be a good starting point:
https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/post-slider/If the grid layout is also important, you can try this list (grids and sliders):
https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/post-slider+grid-layout/With that list, check the demo sites on the themes. Not all of the grids are post grids – sometimes the posts aren’t a grid, but pages or portfolios might be, so checking the layout on the part of the site you plan to use a grid for is a good idea!
