Themes

I came across a theme called Chapters theme. But you have to purchase it. My question is. I love their navigation bar across the top. Would it be hard to make one like that with the theme I am presently using?

You should be able to do something similar on your site with custom-menus. This article explains how custom-menu’s work in general:

For your specific purpose, you’ll want to make each chapter a post and then add the post to your menu using the process described in the support document linked above. If your menu doesn’t allow you to add posts, click the “screen options” tab in the upper right corner of the appearance>menus page and check the “posts” box.

Let me know if you run into any snags!

It seems a little complicated to me. So I think I will leave well enough alone. But thank you.

Can I add a navigation menu that goes no where?

Hello lizthefair. i think i got it figured out. tell me what you think of the lay out. does it make sense to you?

    that absolutely works.

I initially recommended using posts rather than pages because they seem to attract more “Google juice” but in this case the benefit of using an uncomplicated system that works well for you is probably more important.

    Good work!!

you might change the title of your first menu item to “cover” rather than “chapter” as I think that will be less confusing to readers. Other than that, excellent :)
