themes

I was trying to find a free theme with nice clean lines to use for a small public library webpage. I found a library using the Pilcrow theme and it was perfect. I just can’t seem to find another one that feels as good as that one did. There are so many they just start to blur. Any suggestions?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Pilcrow is a retired theme. Themes are retired when they no longer support all WordPress features. Do one of these themes suit? https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/minimal+two-columns+responsive-layout/?sort=free

I knew Pilcrow was retired, I hoped someone knew of some nice, clean, simple comparable ones. I finally found some more libraries with similar clean lines but so far they too seem gone (or maybe I’m not clicking the right way!). I’m going to go check out your link now. Thank you so much for your response. I am such a newbie to this.

And yay! So far I have found at least 2 off your list that I think would do so I am now not feeling so hopeless!

Each theme is uniquely designed. The detailed theme description page with setup instructions for the example I will use is here https://wordpress.com/themes/twentysixteen/ and the live demo site is here https://twentysixteendemo.wordpress.com/
re: switching themes
Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do a lot of work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme with different features and/or if you have done any CSS editing.
Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.
The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.

Thank you for the additional information. I’ve done most of an About Us
page in Capoverso and plan to try out several from that list so the preview feature will help a lot. -
