Themes
-
Hi,
I am building a website for a new restaurant and looked through some themes on theme forest.com. They said to be wordpress themes however I can’t find them on the wordpress website. Am I am to test these themes out before purchasing. Is themeforest a third party? I am a little confused of how they are wordpress themes yet I can’t find them on wordpress. I watched a short video and looks like they need to be purchased and then installed, therefore I would need to go through wordpress.ORG I assume? Can I purchase domain and hosting through wordpress.com or .ORG or do I have to do this through a third party?
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is no FTP access to any wordpress.COM hosted sites and no blogger plugin or theme installation capability.
No FTP access http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
No blogger installed plugins http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/
No Uploading Custom Themes or Third Party Themes
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/You are confusing wordpress.COM hosted sites like yours and wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
The only themes we can use on WordPress.com hosted blogs are licensed and adapted to run on our multi user software the themes are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and in your dashboard at > Appearance > Themes
We cannot:
upload any third party themes,
create child themes,
create our own themes,
edit templates,
create own own layouts,
or use stylesheets from other themes.P.S. Also be keenly aware that you cannot transfer any theme from https://wordpress.com/themes/ which is licensed and adapted to run on WordPress.COM software to a WordPress.ORG site, and visa versa. The two run on different software and have different versions of themes with the same names. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
See Moving to Self-Hosted WordPress https://move.wordpress.com
The wordpress.ORG support forum link is http://wordpress.org/support/ The wordpress.ORG login link is here https://login.wordpress.org/ If you do not have an account yet then click Create an account https://login.wordpress.org/register/ and if you have lost an account password click Lost password? https://login.wordpress.org/lostpassword/

Hi,
Thanks, so to use any themes i’ve seen on themeforest that would need to be done with wordpress.org. Which I then need to download the software, get hosting, plugins etc on my own where as with wordpress.com most of that is done for you.
The site I have now was just a test to see how the backend looks as i’ve only ever used squarespace. When I click on “my site” I do not see the dashboard and appearance panels like I have seen in videos and examples..where can I find those panels?
I am looking for a restaurant theme – free or paid for but when I search only 9 of them appear. Is that all the options for restaurant themes?
I am new to this.
Thanks

There are 2 custom colours I need to use for this restaurant that we have developed for it’s identity. The 1 theme I tried had only a few sets of featured colours i can used to the header, is there a way to use custom colour or is that dependent on the theme. If so, which of the free/paid for themes on wordpress.com have that ability.
Thanks again

Awesome. Thanks.
I see if I purchased and have an existing domain it is pretty easy to transfer but how about if I already have hosting as well as domain. How can I transfer both over to get the wordpress.org website up and running.
Is this possible or do I need to use bluehost/pressable ?
Thank you
