    I have 5 theme updates that I have basically ignored even though I should not. The reason is because I don’t know if my site’s theme is a child theme or not and I am afraid if I update I will change the look of my blog!

    Updating a theme shouldn’t affect your site, however, since your site is using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but it is hosted elsewhere, we can not really help here.

    Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers.
