Themes are messed up after purchasing a CSS Upgrade

  • Unknown's avatar

I have wordpress.com blog running with a mapped domain name. I have purchased a CSS upgrade and I edited a theme called “Toni” to fit my needs. but now when I activate another theme, some properties from “Toni” -The edited theme- are affecting the recently activated one.

    Example:
    1. The current modified theme is “Toni”.
    2. When I activate Kubrick “Default”, some css properties are also applied on Kubrick.

I tried to get the original .CSS code and I pasted it, but that didn’t work.

    What is the problem?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

NOTE: I mean by “some css properties are also applied on Kubrick”: Some CSS properties from “Toni” -which is inactive- are applied on Kubrick default.

CSS is theme specific. If you have custom CSS and later change themes, you need to delete whatever CSS you have in the Editor, otherwise, you’ll get undesired results.

To ‘reset’ a theme, you need to delete the CSS in the Editor, make sure the “add to existing CSS” radio button is checked, then save. Things should go back to normal.

When you alter a theme’s stylesheet, you only need to put in the Editor the modification/additions to the CSS, not the entire thing. Read this for more info:

CSS is theme specific. Each theme author decides how they are going to organize the markup (XHTML) and how they are going to organize and label the CSS classes and IDs.

To get back to the original, delete everything from the CSS edit window, make sure “add to existing…” is selected and then save.
