themes content now showing

hello, im trying to build my website on my own. im tottaly new. so i just installed wordpress on my cpanel and installed a theme free from wordpress but themes all content like menus,picture,pages is not showing, only sample post and home page is showing. i can see from the preview there is more content in that themes but when i install and active the theme i only see sample post. how can i get all content? please help

Instead your host uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com, and allows you to create a “self-hosted” WordPress site instead
