Themes for blogs

    How to apply a blog design. I see the theme I like but nowhere does it say how to get it. Help!

    Your WordPress.com username is linked very unhelpfully to Facebook. Please post an active link starting with http:// to the blog in question so we can view it and help you. Here’s how to link your username to your blog in your blog Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.

    Do you have a blog at wordpress.com? Your name leads to facebook. First, you have to sign up for a blog:
    https://en.wordpress.com/signup/

    When you have a blog, it will come with a default theme. You can change the theme by going to Appearance > Theme, scrolling down, and then perusing the themes. When you find one, you can activate it. Or you can go to the Theme Showcase (which I presume you found), pick your theme there, and activate it.

    The activation link is in the upper right-hand corner of the theme when you preview it. If you are at the theme showcase or your dashboard, you can also just click the activate link w/o previewing it.

    @mmadfan
    Good ay to you. I no longer provide instructions until I get a URL. The way I figure it up to 30% of those who post here are not posting to the correct support forum. Even if this blogger is posting to the correct support forum we haven’t clue if he/she is asking about a Premium theme or a free theme. Hope you have a good day. :)

    Good point — I thought maybe the person didn’t know they had to have an active account first. Probably just providing the “signup” link would have been enough to start with. :)

    Hey, not to worry. I was just explaining my thinking and why I do what I do. :)

    It is helpful to know.

    It’s odd how many .org people end up over here mistakenly, especially.

    A lot of .COM people also end up over at .ORG – I used to see them all the time when I helped over at .ORG.

    However some of the support documents here were better than at .ORG so I would send people over here to a LINK (not the Forum :) ) for a few things having to do with the text editor, More Tag etc.

    Yeah, I can see that, where some particular feature is the same. Never having used a .org install myself, I couldn’t point a .org user to anything more helpful than the .org support forum! :)
