Themes page loading time

I use the themes page frequently when I answer support questions. I’m finding that waiting and waiting and waiting for the page to load when I already know the name of a theme and just want to type it in at the top of the page and activate it on my test blogs to be really annoying.
Is it possible that the searchbox could be made to load first, so those of us who know the name of the theme we want could use it quickly and bypass that teeth grinding, frustrating and irritating wait while the the hundreds of images are loaded?
I’m asking this because it annoys me so much I’m now becoming to avoid answering any theme related questions, when in the past I liked loading themes on my test blogs and working through issues with those who needed help with them.

the theme page loading time has also been an issue with me since they changed to load ALL THE THEMES – used to be they loaded on some pages and then either search or jump to page 4 and only load a few themes – the new infinite theme loading sucks

Well I guess we are in agreement on that then. I noticed a significant increase in page loading time when the nice little thumbnails were rep[laced with BIG images.
I will be satisfied if the single chnage I request above can be implemented. It’s crazymaking for those of us who already know the name of a theme to have to wait for the page to load with an bunch of images of theme we don’t want when we just wanted to use the searchbox.

@timethief, I know what you mean. I’m on a pretty slow connection and it does take quite a while sometimes for that search bar to load. The developers have been working on some improvements to get that page to load faster, but I’ve put in a request with them to see if we can get that search bar to load right away on the page.
In the meantime, I tend to get faster results either by searching from the Theme Showcase or by using the “Change Theme” link on the My Blogs page. Both of those load faster on my end, in case you want to try those instead.

I haven’t tried that yet.I avoid going anywhere near that My Blogs page. I use direct links to my blogs.

I mentioned the My Blogs page just in case it’d work better for you, but I know it’s not usually your cup of tea. I won’t twist your arm into using it. :)
