Themes Showcase changes

The useful BIG BLUE BUTTON for finding themes is gone. Now we have to click a silly “Staff Picks” button to get back at least some of the search filter features, but not all, that we had before.
I do not appreciate this chnage because it compromises my ability to help bloggers in support forum threads. For example, I used to be able to provide links to free themes with sidebars on either the right hand side or the left hand side when I answered support forum questions but I cannot do that now.
I respect Staff but I don’t care what they consider to be Staff picks when it comes to Themes. Labeling the themes search filter link “Staff picks” rather than “Find a theme” is not intuitive.
Having to click that “Staff picks” link to access to the search box filters only to find the filters have been reduced in number was, politely stated, a let down.
Even more annoying than that is that clicking this button http://wordpress.com/themes/ not longer opens where it did before. It now opens in the same area as my Stats, Reader, etc. and the Freshly Pressed page that I never ever visit are situate ie. in an area I wish would disappear altogether.
Color me unhappy. :(
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I do apologize for typo in the thread title and would appreciate it if Staff would fix it for me.

Previous changes that were also unhelpful included eliminating the list of themes with Featured Header Images from the support docs, and replacing it with this waste your time scrolling through a whack of images of themes with featured image headers that are not in alphabetical order by theme name http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/featured-image-header/

Yes, we have made major changes to the theme showcase. In the new showcase, we have links to popular types of themes, such as photography and magazine layouts right in the menu, as well as links to popular and highlighted themes. There’s a search box right on the page, and clicking on the More tab opens up all of the features available in the previous iteration.
Note that all of the filters create links to specific pages that can then be posted in a response to a user, such as:
which is a link to all free themes with one column, a custom background and featured images.
I’m not quite sure what functionality is missing, but if you could be more specific as to what you could search for in the past that you cannot search for now, that would be useful.

@jackiedana
I think what happened is that I was trying to use links when the whole process form changing over was underway. There was no searchbox, etc. There is now though. Thanks for replying. -
