Themes that is easy to read (for seniors)

I have basically inherited a web site for a group that is children of parents that supported the “wrong” side in WW2. They have small meetings from time to time. To help them out my plan was to use a wordpress.com blog to make it easy to update. But many of them are senior citizens by now so I’m looking for a wordpress theme that is easy to read.

As far as I understand the best practice to make text easy to read is to use Arial or Helvetica (font-family: Arial, Helvetica;), “12 point” size (font-size: large;?) and sometimes bold text ().

In the posts I can set this manually but not in the menu. So does anybody have a suggestion for a theme where the menu (and preferably the posts) is easy to read?

I suppose I could pay for the css upgrade, but it feels a bit unnecessary to pay just to get an easy to read blog. It’s not like I’m doing anything fancy. It’s probably a theme out there, it must be a market for it.

Have a look at http://wpthemes1.wordpress.com/ where you can easily view all the available themes and see which you prefer.

  • Also you might like to teach them about the text zoom feature in their web browsers, since it’ll help them with other web sites as well.
