Themes With 3 Sidebars to Themes with Only 2 Sidebars
-
HI,
I wanted to know if I change themes from the ones with 3 sidebars to the one with only 2 or 1 sidebar…where will the info go from those removed sidebars? Will they be transferred over to just one sidebar? And also about the javascript codes? Is that only abled for premium members? I get some codes that are supposed to be WordPress compatible, but the dont work on the sidebars.
Please advise!
And how to I get your response to this question? Is it only by going back to the forum? Cuz it might disappear in the crowd of questions ;-)
Thanks for your attention!WordPress Lover,

Javascript codes that claim to be wordpress compatible are always for wordpress.org self-hosted blogs. Not even the VIP blogs can use them here.
I’m not certain, but I think that all the widgets will just be placed in the one sidebar.

AFAIK, when you reduce the number of sidebars, the information is simply not displayed. If you go back to a theme with 2 sidebars, it shows up again. At least that has been my experience on my test blog.
As for how you get responses – best bet is to come back to the forum and where it says “welcome, ronsocialog” click on your name and it will take you to all of the forum threads where you have posted.
Also – consider linking your blog to your username https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-to-make-your-name-link-to-your-blog?replies=54 This will make putting your blog address in your questions unnecessary.

Thanks for responding rosclarke and miss vivianpaige ;-) That’s what I am afraid of that I will not be able to see my other sidebar widgets. Hopefully I will find another theme with 3 sidebars.
Take care guys <3 -
My suggestion is to copy all stuff you have in text widgets out and paste it into a plain text file before switching from a three column to a two column theme. There is no guarantee that the stuff in the widgets that were in the second sidebar will make the transition. By pasting it into a plain text file first, you assure yourself that if things do disappear, you will be able to recreate them far more easily than having to do it from scratch.

That is a good idea! I need to do that because I am not certain myself if everything is going to be transferred. My other question is, which I will be posting on this forum as well, what is the difference between, an author and an editor or contributor? If I ad another administrator, does that person have to know my username and password to access the dashboard? Or will WordPress offer them to create their own log in info?
That is all and thank you! -
ron – that answer is in the FAQ – http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/12/what-are-the-different-roles/
