    but now when I go to the same location, besides the condition selective it shows red “x” and anything I choose is not apply or even do not show it in my sidebar.

    Hi @liewwk,

    Could you please help me to reproduce the situation, as there is something that does not match for me.
    So the question to you is what are your Widget Visibility window settings that do nor work?

    What I have tested:
    Used Twenty Seventeen Theme as you do in http://www.liewwkphoto.com;
    Added “Categories” widget in the sidebar;
    In the Categories widget there is a Visibility button, but it appears only on WordPress.com websites, while on self hosted WordPress installation by default there is no Visibility button at all. I have turned it on in Jetpack as per this instruction;

    For me that Visibility button works fine, it show up only on those pages that I have selected (SHOW if PAGE is POST), as per Widget Visibility window manual.
    The red cross besides PAGE is not something bad, it is same DELETE button as a red cross in top right corner of Visibility window on WordPress.com hosted websites. Have showed up that here: on the left side a website on WordPress.com, on the right site self hosted website with WordPress and Jetpack installed:

    @liewwk,

    Hi. Widget Visibility settings on Twenty Seventeen are also working fine for me on a test site. Allow me to add the following to what @maksimurasov has said above.

    but now when I go to the same location, besides the condition selective it shows red “x”

    The function of the red “X” in Widget Visibility settings of any widget is to cancel any setting entered there. As @maksimurasov said, it is present in every WordPress.com widget in the visibility settings.

    and anything I choose is not apply or even do not show it in my sidebar.

    I wonder if you understand what Widget Visibility settings are for. They do not affect what is displayed in the widget at all. They can only affect where the widget is displayed. See the Widget Visibility section of the Widgets support page.

    I decided not to use that widget and install another plugin to have similar function. the .

    I am not too sure how to ink image here. but whenever I try publish selective category in my sidebar. it work fine when I do not choose anything. but when I click “visibility”

    Show
    *when I choose category” here there is a red “x” on the right. whaever I try to choose it will either ignore or make this “category” disappear from my post.

    may be is the widget issue? I choose another plugin than it work well now.
    thanks

    Hi again,

    To post an image here, you can use this tool to “host” that image: https://snipboard.io/ or use an URL of image from your website and add it here in forum:
    <img src="YOUR_URL_GOES_HERE">. This snippet is also shown under the post screen in light green box.

    As dear @musicdoc1 wrote, the visibility window works not “to show the posts according to selected rule” but “to show the widget (visibility settings of which you are redacting) only if the rule set matches”.
    F.e. Widget Categories will be shown on posts pages only if the rule is set SHOW if PAGE is POST.
    So that is the reason why your Category widget disappears- the rule to show it does not match on the exact page.
    More about that is here: https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/#widget-visibility.

    Hope that helps.

    @liewwk,

    when I try to choose any selection than it seem make the whole “categories” missing from my sidebar.

    You’ve indicated a couple of times that you’re referring to a Categories widget. Let me see if I can explain what I think is happening with a couple of examples:

    Example 1: If in the Visibility settings of a Categories widget you select “Show” if “Category” is “Landscape Spot,” then that widget will display nowhere else except on the “Landscape Spot” category archive page. So if the preview screen at Customize is displaying the Homepage or any other page, post, etc. other than that one category page, then the widget will not be displayed. If you’re looking at the appropriate widget area while making the visibility selection, then you may see the widget disappear! And you should be able to make it reappear again by clicking on the “Landscape Spot” item in your header navigation menu.

    Example 2: If you choose instead “Category” is “All category pages,” then again the widget will not be displayed, EXCEPT on all category pages. So you’d have to be viewing one of the category pages at Customize in order to see the widget.

    Clarification:

    So you’d have to be viewing one of the category pages at Customize in order to see the widget.

    In both the examples, I refer to what can be seen in the Customize preview window at a specified Widget Visibility setting, but what is visible or hidden there with a certain setting, will also be visible or hidden, respectively, on the publicly visible site.
