There has been a critical error… on Pages admin page

Hi all. I’m having issues with a critical error on a WordPress.com hosted website. I am not that experienced with WordPress.com hosted sites, so please forgive me if this is a common problem, my searching hasn’t found anything on the forum.

I can only trigger the error when accessing pages at wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page

Error log shows some issues with /wordpress/drop-ins/advanced-cache.php

    And a fatal error:
PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 60309504 bytes) in /wordpress/drop-ins/object-cache.php on line 165

So trying to load 60MB of data exhausted 265MB of data?

Any clues or ideas where to look?

  • Hey there, this site has a Business or eCommerce plan, so if you’re able, can you log out and log back in as the plan owner? Then you’ll be able to reach chat-based support here:
    https://wordpress.com/help/contact

The message seems to say it tried to allocate 60 more megabytes. I’m not sure what would have it requiring that extra bit, but you’ll have options to roll back if needed, or if the issue has been occurring for a while now, support may be able to help you sort it out over chat, with more info.
