‘There has been a critical error on this website’
-
Hi,
I have a hosted website https://ieeetorontomu.ca/ and it has been working fine for 2 years. For some reason, the past two weeks the website has displayed an error with WordPress and we don’t know what to do with it as no information is provided and we cannot access as an administrator (https://ieeeryerson.com/admin) to see the website (we get the same error output).
We have renewed our domain so that is fine, we need help with this immediately.
Thank you.

Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out to us with your concern about your website. I understand how critical website issues can be, especially when they affect your site’s accessibility and functionality.
To clarify, your site is using the open-source version of WordPress, which is hosted on a different provider, not on WordPress.com’s managed hosting. Because of this setup, our hands are somewhat tied when it comes to directly troubleshooting or resolving issues on externally-hosted sites like yours. Our managed hosting platform allows us to investigate and address problems only on the sites we directly host.
To provide a bit more context, WordPress.com managed hosting offers a variety of features tailored for performance, security, and ease of use. Our platform ensures your site is always up to date, secure, and operating at its best. If you’d like to know more about what our hosting offers, feel free to check this out: https://wordpress.com/hosting/
If you ever consider switching your hosting provider, WordPress.com has an easy-to-use migration plugin that can assist you in transferring your site smoothly to our platform.
Use the Move to WordPress.com plugin to migrate a self-hosted WordPress site to WordPress.com. Follow the steps in this guide to import your site (including your content, media, plugins, and theme) directly from your wp-admin dashboard. Prerequisites To follow the steps in this guide, you will need: Your source site: a WordPress site with any other hosting provider (referred to as a seHowever, I understand that you’re currently looking for immediate solutions to your site’s error. Since you’re using the open-source version of WordPress, I’d recommend seeking assistance in the community support forums designed specifically for this software version. The community there is knowledgeable and can help troubleshoot the issues you’re facing with your host’s version of WordPress. You can post your concerns or queries here:
