There has been a critical error on this website.

As soon as I updated WordPress, my website is no longer working.
And I see ‘There has been a critical error on this website’ with the troubleshooting.I checked the troubleshoot and it looks broad and painstaking to me. I just clicked an ‘update’ on my dashboard, and this happened. I appreciate if you could somehow help me what should I do. I also accidentally disconnected with this account (Jackpot), so I need to re-connect the site.

Hi there!
Can you confirm the URL of the site you need help with?
Keep in mind that this forum is for sites hosted and managed here at WordPress.com. This kind of issue is often seen on sites that use the open-source version of WordPress.org which is quite different. You can learn about the differences here: https://wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Because your problem was triggered after an update, your hosting provider should be able to help you find the source of the problem. It could be a plugin that is not compatible.
Otherwise, you can find better help for your WordPress.org installation from their community here: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/Hope this helped!

Hi there,
WordPress.com and Jetpack shared the same login.
Perhaps you want to try making sure you’re properly connected Jetpack before updating WordPress.
-
This has nothing to do with Jetpack.
The OP said they disconnected Jetpack, but all that does is remove the site from their WordPress.com site list, and won’t do anything to fix the critical error which sounds like it was caused by something going wrong during a core software update.
They’ll only be able to reconnect Jetpack once the cause of the critical error is fixed, as they need to be logged into WP-Admin before they’ll be able to reconnect Jetpack.

1.)

His site is on WordPress.com and I don’t he is on a business plan or above? so no plug-ins, just a simple blog.
The odds of a core software update causing issues on a managed hosting for a site with no plug-ins is not likely, IMO.
2.)

OP mentioned
I just clicked an ‘update’ on my dashboard, and this happened.
How can OP click ‘update’ on my dashboard if OP is not already logged into WP-Admin?

Great questions :)

The OP isn’t speaking of jungsooparkcom.wordpress.com.
The “Critical error” they refer to cannot occur on a free WordPress.com site, and free WordPress.com sites don’t have an option to disconnect Jetpack. There’s also no option to manually update anything on a WordPress.com site. These things being visible to the OP all indicate they’re referring to a self-hosted site.
The site the forums indicate defaults to whatever is set as the primary site in someone’s account, and not everyone change that when they create a thread. (Also, as they’d disconnected Jetpack, the correct site wouldn’t even have been available in the site picker for them at the time they created this thread.)
In other words, it’s often not the actual site someone needs help with, so it’s good to look for clues in the question as well to identify if someone might be speaking of a self-hosted site instead. And of course, ask for the correct URL as @cuellin did, though in this case the question contains enough information for us to make a safe assumption that they’re not speaking of a WordPress.com site.

The critical error occurred after they did that update. Following the update they are now most likely locked out of the dashboard, as that’s typically what happens with this type of error in WordPress.
