You can download them, but you can’t use them on a WordPress.com blog. Plugins are only for WordPress.ORG blogs.

why cant you have plugins on a wordpress.com site??
thats the only reason i paid for this site was to add plugins and create a good website??
please help :-(

That’s not possible. There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and we cannot install individual plugins into them for security reasons. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.

You did not pay for a blog or for hosting here at WordPress.com because both are free of charge. All we pay for here is upgrades that we voluntarily choose to purchase or not.

Take note of this please:If you’ve registered your domain through WordPress.com and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers

Just to be clear about this you own your domain name. See what I posted above please because you can set up a wordpress.org install and update the nameservers to point to it.If you don’t want to do that and 48 hours has not passed since you purchased the domain mapping upgrade you can get a refund. You can request a refund yourself directly from the Store -> My Upgrades section of your Dashboard.

Posting in the forum wont’ help. You have to contact staff directly. We are just volunteers.
In the future, don’t buy upgrades until you’ve checked they include what you want. The domain upgrade clearly says you only get a custom domain name. That’s it. Each and every upgrade here applies ONLY to exactly what it says and no more.

Yes you can export your blog content and links out of free hosted wordpress.com blogs and then import them into wordpress.org installs. However, that’s extra work givee that all one has to do in the first instance is to hire a web host and set up a wordpress.org install and blog in it from the outset.
