There’s an error message popping up when people type http://www.wemanconnect.wordpress.com
It has got to do with the certificate issue, can you please fix it?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Hey wemanconnect,
The website is accessible to me and no error is popping up.
Please try after clearing the browser cache. -
I’ve asked 5 people to test it and the “this site is not secure” message pops up and my IT friend said it’s due to certificate issue that WordPress has to and can fix it.
Please check again as everyone one seems to have the warning pop up and I can send you the screen shot if needed
Open wide edge and type in http://www.wemanconnect.wordpress.com
Thanks
-
FYI followed by my above message, when you open edge it’s https:// and not http://
The warning message doesn’t pop up with chrome but it does with edge and it’s an issue because my prospects may think I’m stealing data from them when that warning “this site is not secure” message pops up -
I have tried to open the different page and everything looked fine. Mostly, if you still need to be sure, I am tagging this as “modlook” to get the staff assistance.
A staff member will let you know what exactly your concern is.
Please wait for a while

Ok thank you. But again my friends (including an IT guy) and I are getting the warning “this site is insecure” when using https://www
I have the screen shot too if needed.Anyway, I’ll wait for a staff member to get back to me, thanks for checking, I appreciate it!

WordPress.com does not use the www in sites. You need to use https://wemanconnect.wordpress.com/ without the www to give the address for your site. There is no certificate issue when you browse to the correct address for your site.
-
When I first created the site I always used with www in chrome (http) and the warning didn’t pop up, it’s only if it’s on edge (https) that when I use www the warning pops up, can you explain this?
-
The problem is still not fixed. Can somebody help? When I use Edge and type http://www.wemanconnect.wordpress.com the warning of insecure site still pops up. Can anyone help please?
-
Although http://www.wemanconnect.wordpress.com will still redirect www has been obsolete and unnecessary for a long time now and https is the default setting at WordPress.com. As you have been told above your correct address is: https://wemanconnect.wordpress.com/
-
People really don’t or can’t read and then give useless response. Of course I know what my web page is! But I am referring to when people do a google search on my webpage and use webs such as EDGE and then type www then the warning sign is a concern! It’s someyhinb WP Support can fix so if you aren’t IT and can’t fix the bug please don’t give useless responses. Thank you!

*something
Ps. I can control what I type but I can’t control what prospects type in the url, if my prospects type in www and see the warning sign it’s a HUGE concern and that’s what I’m trying to avoid. People really should learn to understand an issue other than telling me what the correct website is.

You’re welcome. Rather than typing, most people click on links. If I do a Bing search I see:
http://www.wemanconnect.com
https://wemanconnect.wordpress.com
WeManConnect’s mission is to empower entrepreneurs and business…But the http://www.wemanconnect.com is the title you have given your site, not your actual WordPress.com site address. I was going to suggest you upgrade to a paid plan and get that custom domain name of your choice but I see there was a new 1&1 site recently set up with the address http://www.wemanconnect.com. Perhaps that is you? Perhaps they still use http there.

Thanks for your suggestion and yes that’s me and I’m in the midst of integrating the domains and asked in a new forum post where I could find the DNS settings details of my WordPress site as I am unable to find it. 1and1 asked for my WP DNS settings.
-
You could have had a custom domain registered for free here at WordPress.com by upgrading to a paid plan. Now you’ll need to decide if you want to stay here and map your new domain (which will still require an upgraded plan but will mean that people can still access your new domain via your WordPress.com address if needs be) or if you want to move away from WordPress.com to your new host and set up a site with the WordPress.org software.

Yes thanks, I am aware of the various options but opted for the 1and1 deal so I asked 1and1, they said they can do the integration which is free of charge and all I need is the DNS settings details of my WP site, but I am unable to find it.
-
As I said above if you don’t want to move your content elsewhere you would need to purchase an upgraded plan here and then map your new domain to your existing WordPress.com site:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
To upgrade to a paid plan: https://wordpress.com/plans/
Once you have Domain Mapping set up, you would set your domain’s name servers to the following:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COM -
My friend also did it without an upgraded plan with WP by purchasing a domain with godaddy. Godaddy did the integration for her and it was all free of charge. She kept the web hosting with WP with Godaddy domain…

I have added the modlook tag to ask if a member of staff will be kind enough to respond to you regarding custom domains and also your concerns about http/https/www.
