Thick shadow border

  • Unknown's avatar

I want to put a thick two color shadow border around all my posts. Right now I have a thin double border and can’t figure out the CSS to do a two-color rounded border. Can anyone help? I’m using the wordpress.com mystique theme. Thank you!

Box shadows are a mess to do right now since you have to actually declared it 5 times to cover all major browsers and versions and although in theory you could add one set of 5 to cover horizontal, and one set of 5 to cover vertical, the wordpress software here would not allow it. In fact, it doesn’t even seem to allow all 5 of the declarations to stand and will strip out all but the base CSS3 declaration.

You can do a rounded background for an element and then set border-left, border-right, border-top and border-bottom separately with different colors, but they would have be a shadow. I’ve never tried this, so I have no idea how or where they transition at the corners. With non-rounded, they transition rather well, but with rounded corners? No clue.

Ok – sounds like it’s either not possible or a huge pain in the butt to do. Not a big deal, I just like the look of it. Thanks!

Actually, see this site and scroll down to “layering multiple shadows”. I don’t think it will work here and I know that it would only show in a few browsers/versions and not all. What shows up in the browsers that do not support it would be anybody’s guess.

Again though, I don’t think the CSS tidy software used here in the backend is going to allow this and will strip it out.

Sorry, I forget to include the link to the site I was talking about.
