think i reserved a site myself but cannot get it now!

hi all, i have tried all sorts of fixes to do with renaming and new accounts (including clearing caches etc and the registration trick at this link https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/?new=myname.wordpresscom ) but i think i have broken something!
i am trying to get ukbeermaps.wordpress.com but i am being told it is reserved – there is no blog, no username and no domain using that – i am certain it was me doing something wrong. is there a way someone can look into this to ‘free it up’ if we can confirm it was actually me reserving it in the first place?

FYI – at one point i was able to choose this domain but didnt manage to complete the registration process so that is why i think i broke something and the domain isnt actually reserved by anyone

There is someone who owned the ukbeermaps, which automatically gives them the right to reserve the WordPress.com address associated with the username. However, the changed their username, resulting in deleting ukbeermaps. Therefore, no one can use that name. Did you happen to have access to this account before and changed the username?

hi, i think i did, or i might have tried to rename to it – and then to delete things to start again properly – i didn’t entirely understand the process / difference between the username / account name / site name / description etc – sorry!
if you can see anything relating to that / my current login / dan mayer / topbeerblog – it’s been me trying to get it sorted (in fact when i found out i couldnt just delete a site i ended up renaming one of them to firstlast12 !!)

No need to take it – it’s already under your firstlast12 account! You should be able to start blogging! Just no deleting =).

Yes, you should be able to change your username without affecting the sites that are under your account.

thanks darnell, all working so far – the last problem is that i can’t rename my username currently “firstlast12” to either “ukbeermaps” or “danmayer77” as it says both are in use – i cant find either against any of the accounts i have been trying – is there anything i can do to change this so that i can use one of those usernames please?

Unfortunately, once you delete a username, it’s permanent. You cannot reuse it again. =(
