Thinking about upgrading

Would you please look at englishautousa.com (aka englishautousa.wordpress.com) and determine whether I can keep the existing (free) theme without catastrophe if I upgrade to the personal or higher plan? Also, Calypso doesn’t not handle slideshows and I am concerned about the new editor rollout will remove access to wpadmin interface..

I can’t tell what theme englishautousa.wordpress.com is using but it does appear to be an older retired theme. Upgrading to a paid plan doesn’t change the theme unless you want to change it. You can continue to use the theme. However themes are retired when they no longer meet all the criteria for the constant changes WordPress.com makes. For example they may not display so well on smaller screens ie: phones. Wp-admin will continue for a few more years yet, but ultimately we’ll all need to accept new ways of doing things and new themes if we want to keep our sites online.
