Third Party DNS Hosting Inquiry
-
Hello,
I’d like to map a new domain to my blog, and host the DNS on a third party server located in South Korea, where I have been hosting my other websites as well.
I can’t seem to locate an option that allows me to do so, could you please provide more information how?Regards.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I see that you removed the domain mapping for realkoreans.com.
If you still want to map the domain to your WordPress.com account, you can do this by going to your domain registrar’s site and logging into the control panel. You will need to update the name servers as below:
- NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
For more information, please visit the help documentation provided by the registrar and our support page:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi,
Why do I need to “map” a domain I already own to WordPress? Can’t I just change the domain and DNS to redirect it to my blog?
I’m not sure I understand this “mapping” concept.

Hi there,
No, you do not need to map a domain that was registered directly through WordPress.com. However, I found that realkoreans.com is registered through GoDaddy and seen here:
http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/results.jsp?domain=realkoreans.com
So, in that case, the domain would need to be mapped.
Let me know if you have another account with a domain you registered through us. You can find more information about registering a domain at WordPress.com here:
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
