third party sites
-
This is probably a dumb question, since the Advertising page does say not to do ads for third-party sites, but I am still not sure I am actually running ads. I am a participant in the Amazon Associates program, which allows me to link to products I like through a specific code. If people buy the items, I would make a small commission. I would be linking to those products on Amazon anyway because I really have found them so helpful — so I figured it would be nice to get a referral fee for sales from them. Just today, I saw the support docs on WordPress saying we may not advertise. I am fine with that, but I guess I just wanted to be very sure there isn’t something I’m missing before I change the code in the links. Thanks!

Hey there,
Users writing their own product reviews may link to Amazon using affiliate links, provided the affiliate links is not the primary content of the post. For instance, a detailed product review with an affiliate link at the end is acceptable; a short, one-liner post with an affiliate links is not.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Best,

I am developing a blog site that I had hoped would also include a page full of “recommended books”, each with an affiliate link to the Amazon.com product page. This page would not be the primary purpose of the site, but just a helpful resource for people visiting the site in general.
Will this get me suspended or deleted?
What about a donation Paypal widget?
